Our ultimate winter tour of Scotland is back! Explore Kilmartin Glen with it's stone age monuments, the Isle of Skye, Loch Ness,  St Andrews and 2 nights in a 16th Century Castle! With a visit to a whisky distillery, it's a tour not to be missed!

The Highlights!

  • Sleep in Plane Castle, a genuine 16th Century castle with it's grand banquet hall and secret passageway. It's exclusive to Wild in Scotland!
  • Loch Lomond, Kilmartin Glen with Neolithic tombs, standing stones and Dunadd Fort, the ancient capital of the Gaels.
  • The dramatic scenery and history of Glencoe, a full day on the Isle of Skye as well as Loch Ness and St Andrews.

The Kitty includes:

  • Whisky distillery.
  • All accommodation, evening meals and breakfasts.

Day 1 - Leaving Edinburgh, we drive straight out to the Forth bridges before making our way along the Fife coastline with time to explore one of the fantastic beaches. St Andrews is our main destination and we'll have plenty of time to explore this ancient religious capital - walk the Old Course, run down the beach (Chariots of Fire!), visit the castle and cathedral or do a bit of shopping - the choice is yours. After lunch we head west along the foot of the Ochil Hills, stopping for a short waterfall walk on the way before arriving at our home for the night - Plane Castle. Our very own 16th Century castle (*see below) just waiting to be explored!

Day 2 - With a bit of time to explore the secret passageway and gardens this morning we then head off on a loop around the Trossachs (or Braveheart country if you choose) and Perthshire - hear the history of Doune Castle, Rob Roy Macgregor's land, waterfalls and short walks galore before sampling the water of life, otherwise known as whisky - then back to the castle to relax in style!

Day 3 - After saying farewell to our castle, we begin with Bannockburn and hearing the history of Wallace and Bruce. After we enjoy some forest walks at the Hermitage before stopping for lunch in Pitlochry. Afterwards there's time for a little spot of monster hunting on Loch Ness before making our way out to the West Coast for the next two nights.

Day 4 - A full and active day round the Isle of Skye, with lots of walks and time to take in the magic. You'll see the Cuillin Mountains, the Old Man of Storr (an incredible Jurassic pillar) and hear some amazing legends, visit the fascinating Kilt Rock, and take in absolutely awe-inspiring panoramas in the Quiraing. Perfect preparation for a few wee drams to reflect on a day of tales and legends.

Day 5 - This morning we'll catch a glimpse of Eilean Donan Castle (where Highlander was filmed) as we begin our journey south. It's then onto Fort William before making our way into the breathtaking Glencoe (hear about the massacre of Clan MacDonald). It's then Loch Awe with Kilchurn Castle and St Conan's Kirk before arriving in the lively fishing town of Oban for our last night together!

Day 6 - Our last day together, we head south towards the mysterious Standing Stones of Kilmartin Glen and climb to the top of Dunadd Fort to find out how our nation was defined. Afterwards we'll drive along the Argyll coastline, perhaps tasting a fresh oyster at Loch Fyne before a last stop at Loch Lomond (you'll take the high road).

*Please note that this tour will be unable to stay at Plane Castle on the following dates 2nd November and the 19th April. The itinerary will be operated in reverse for all Saturday departures.

This tour may be joined by passengers on the 4 day Oban and Skye tour on the third morning.

We're certain that this will be a really special trip, and one you'll remember for a long time to come. We look forward to seeing you.

Tour itineraries and accommodation can vary due to acts of God etc, but we normally stick to this. Kitty includes hostels, evening meals, breakfasts and distillery.
