Pubs & Distilleries
As most people are aware pubs are a vital part of Scotland's culture, not simply for the drink but as a focus for the vibrant social life. Whether for a couple of pints, a bit of a gossip or some live music you will find the local pub at the heart of most communities. It is here you will meet the locals and find out more about the culture and concerns of the area than you would get from a hundred visitor centres.
As you would expect we will visit some great wee pubs on all of our tours, if not for a few recuperative ales or some lovely home cooked food for lunch, then at least to soak up the atmosphere.
No Scottish pub would be complete without some of the local brews, either from the huge number of small independent breweries with their vast variety of beers to our world famous Whisky. No other spirit in the world can boast the complexity and range of Single Malt Scottish Whisky, it is enjoyed the world over but only produced here.
The flavour is influenced by many factors but it only ever contains three ingredients spring water, malted barley and yeast. Much of the variety comes from the distilleries themselves, whether it is the shape of the stills, the type of barrel or the location itself - it is an almost magical combination. Tullibardine Distillery is a favourite of ours with excellent small guided tours led through the working distillery.
All of our tours will visit great wee pubs!
