Can we take children on these tours?

Most of our tours are unsuitable for children with a bunch of mostly 18 to 30 somethings playing music on the bus and trips to the pub. Our walking tours are for mixed ages so families are welcome as long as everyone in the party is able to complete gentle walks in the countryside for up to 4 hours. This should not be a problem for anyone with reasonable fitness.

What is covered by the 'kitty'?

The kitty is great value for money - it covers your accommodation (in dormitories) in fantastic bunkhouses and hostels around Scotland, breakfasts and evening meals. Certain tours take ferries and do a boat trip - these costs are covered too! Check with each individual tour. On the walking tours evening meals are excluded. You are free to choose where to eat except in the small fishing village of Stromeferry near Skye we have a 2 courses for £7.50 special deal.

What kind of food can we expect on the tour and do we have to help cook / clean up?

Breakfasts will consist of helping yourself to cereal, toast, spreads, juice, tea and coffee - as much as you like. Evening meals are prepared as a group can vary from barbecues to cook ups. The guide is there to co-ordinate the cooking (not to cook!) and what is cooked is decided each evening using as much local produce as possible - there is always loads of it and it is healthy and filling! The tour help to cook and clean up. Tours staying in the Stromeferry Hostel get lovely home made dinners cooked for us included! We just have to wash up. On certain tours we may go to a local pub for the evening meal and use kitty money to pay for it. If you are vegetarian or have allergies please let us know on the booking form.

What time do the tours begin and end?

All of our tours check in at 8:15am and normally return between 6:00 and 6:30 in the evening. This is in time for the last train to London (7:00pm) and some flights. We can drop you at the airport at 6pm on our way back to Edinburgh. Please ask your guide the day before we return to Edinburgh.

Is there a minimum number you require before a tour will run?

No! If you book your tour then we will guarantee your departure.
